Two weeks after the Auction, our staff gathered together for our post-auction staff meeting. We were once again blown away by the financial support we received when an astounding $940,000 day of total was shared. But then came my favorite part...

At the meeting, it has been our tradition that each staff member shares a blessing they experienced over the summer or during the Auction. While the financial generosity on Auction Day and through the Online Auction is truly humbling, what brings tears to our eyes is the incredible reminder that we are not alone in this mission.

We felt that support in countless ways: when we reconnected with friends and family and in fellowship as we shared life’s blessings and challenges. We felt it in the hugs, handshakes, waves, and smiles and in the tireless work of our volunteers this summer. We were reminded of it again when many of you arrived the week before to help with setup. And once again, on Auction Day, when so many jumped in to serve food, carry items, work shifts, bid, clean up, and so much more. And, of course, the reminder of your support came when you worshipped and prayed with us.

Our residents see the love surrounding them, and it profoundly impacts them and their families. This year, one resident’s family member was so moved that she ran to the houseparents and exclaimed that she had no idea this was the environment her child was living in and wondered if she could keep coming back to support! Former residents who haven’t been at Gateway in years often return to show their support and get involved because of the lasting impact your support has on them.

The Auction is not the only time we as staff have felt those reminders of your love, support, and prayers. But seeing that support in such a tangible way at the Auction is deeply humbling and inspires us to continue on in this mission. With heartfelt humility, we thank you for your support because that is what makes it so easy for us to sing:
